Holly Rudin-Braschi, MA, ACSM
Biography
Holly Rudin-Braschi has all the skills and knowledge necessary to make it one of the premier interdisciplinary wellness programs available. She is a certified health fitness and nutrition educator and lecturer, journalist, veteran professional cooking instructor and professional music educator. Calling on these combined talents, she created Feasting in the Fast Lane , a high-energy wellness and nutrition education program that has inspired people of all ages to realize their fitness potential through corporate and classroom presentations, radio and television shows, and publications.
Certified Fitness Professional, Educator and Corporate Lecturer: A certified health and fitness instructor, Holly holds current certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA), and the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Holly is also a certified Zumba Instructor, certified SharQui Belly Dance Instructor, and certified Aquatic Aerobics Instructor. She currently teaches group fitness classes at Club One in Petaluma, CA. Holly has combined her unique combination of culinary, nutrition and fitness knowledge to create Feasting in the Fast Lane, a high-energy series of over 20 lectures that shows Americans how to achieve their fitness potential through healthy eating and exercise. In addition to having taught wellness for grades K-l2, she is a sought after speaker by major corporations and universities throughout the United States. Holly has been a wellness presenter at companies such as Apple Computer, 3M, Chevron, the IRS, Johnson & Johnson, Lockheed, Motorola, National Semi-Conductor, Pacific Gas & Electric, and State Farm Insurance, among many others.
Author: Holly’s book “Grill Power™”, the first and still most comprehensive book for indoor electric grills, has sold over 50,000 copies and is represented by Simon and Schuster.
Media Personality and Spokesperson: Holly has sold over $10 million in products on QVC and the Canadian Shopping Channel as an on-air guest. Combining her culinary, health/fitness and musical expertise with her engaging, high-energy personality, Holly appears on TV, talk-radio shows, and trade shows nationally and internationally. Her presentations in both English and French aired nationally on Canadian TV (including the show “Shopping Bags”) and radio. Previously she, co-hosted and produced Serves You Right® Radio, a best-of-the-best lifestyle show that airs nationally to 28-million homes via Cable Radio Networks, www.crni.net Saturdays 3-4 PST. In addition, Holly presented in Greek with Vefa Alexiadou, the Julia Child of Greece, on Greece’s number-1 rated Morning Show via satellite from Athens to four continents. On TV, Holly worked closely with famed television chef Martin Yan as his personal assistant during the 1990 KQED taping of 28 "Yan Can Cook" shows which aired on PBS. Holly also appeared weekly on television in Austin, Texas, in a five minute Feasting in the Fast Lane segment which she produced for KXAN-TV's "Saturday First Cast," a local news/magazine program.
Music Educator: The author of two books for ukulele, Holly’s Ukulele Method for Ultra Beginners, and Holly’s Beginning/Intermediate Ukulele Method, Holly began studying guitar at the age of seven. Singing and guitar go hand in hand so Holly started voice lessons at 13. Early in her career, she received scholarships for three consecutive years at the Tanglewood Festival of the Arts in Lenox, MA where she studied with celebrated soprano Phyllis Curtin and sang in the Tanglewood Festival Chorus under the baton of Seigi Ozawa, Michael Tilson Thomas, Leonard Bernstein, and many other renowned conductors. Other scholarships include study with Tito Gobbi (a contemporary of Maria Callas) in Florence, Italy, and apprenticeships at the Colorado Opera Festival, in Colorado Springs, CO and the Banff Festival of the Arts in Banff, Canada. Holly added the ukulele to her repertoire of instruments 8 years ago and now teaches group lessons through Santa Rosa Junior College.
Fitness and Food Journalist: Holly writes for a variety of national and international publications. As a freelance journalist her articles, which focus on such topics as food, fitness, nutrition, and travel, appear in magazines and newspapers nationwide (e.g. Cooking Light, Prevention Magazine) and have been represented by the New York Times News Syndication Services. As fitness editor for ten years for the American Egg Board’s and USDA’s “Rediscover Eggs”, a quarterly newsletter for seniors, Holly interviewed the nation’s most eminent health and fitness professionals. As the US Correspondent for RealFood Magazine, the premier food and lifestyle in Greece (100K circulation), she has written about Jacques Pepin, Anne Willan, the California Wine Country, Montana National Parks cuisine and much more. As food editor for Cleverchef.com and contributing editor to Select Magazine, published by Sunset Magazine for Safeway-owned grocery stores throughout the United States and Canada, Holly’s assignments have included trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Norway, Germany, Greece, French Canada and many other destinations. Holly’s weekly column, "The Weekly Cook", appeared in the San Jose Mercury News for four years. She has also been a contributing editor to the Mori-Nu Tofu Times, writing articles and developing recipes for this trade publication and web site.
